Swiftype - Setup

For this tutorial ensure that you have an active account on Swiftype. You must also have a copy of our Swiftype widget.

Stage 1

First, login to your account; if you do not already have a Swiftype engine then it should prompt you to create a new one. Click "Create an Engine."

Stage 2

Select the "Create a Search Engine" option from the left hand side.

Stage 3

Enter the URL for your website or any other website that you wish to index.

Stage 4

Name your search engine; we recommend giving it your site name so it is easy to remember in the future.

Stage 5

Your setup is now complete. It may state that Swiftype did not find any sitemaps, don't worry, just select "Complete Setup" unless you wish to upload your own sitemap.

Stage 6

Next, select your "Engine Key," which is located in the bottom right hand side of the screenshot below. This is the key that you will need to copy into your widget inside Muse.

Stage 7

Paste the key into the Swiftype widget inside Muse.

Completed!

Your search widget will start working once it has stopped "Crawling" on the Swiftype site. If your widget returns a black display like below, this is likely because it is still crawling your site looking for content.
